About Truth For Free

TruthForFree began with a simple conviction: that the good news of Jesus Christ was never meant to be sold. It was given freely, and it’s meant to be given away.

For many years now, this little corner of the internet has been a home for writings about Christ, His church, and what it means to follow Him — often outside the walls and machinery of institutional religion. Some of these pieces I wrote myself. Many others came from friends I met along the way: writers in the “out of church” family who believed, as I do, that truth is worth more when it’s shared than when it’s sold. We passed each other’s work around freely, and by their kindness and permission, much of it lives on here.

“Freely you have received; freely give.”

I’ll be honest about one thing. Some of these articles are old, and I was young and zealous when I wrote them. I still stand behind what I believe, but the years have given me a bit more grace. Where I once assumed the worst of those I disagreed with, I’ve come to see that most people — pastors included — are sincere, doing their best inside the systems they inherited, just as I once did. So as these writings are restored here, my hope is always to persuade, never merely to provoke. If something here challenges you, wonderful. If it only offends you, then I’ve fallen short of the heart of Christ, and I’d rather you write to me than write me off.

Everything on this site is free. There’s nothing to buy, nothing to subscribe to, no message behind a paywall. You’re welcome to read it, print it, copy it, and pass it on — the only asks are that it’s never sold, and that each author keeps the credit for their own work.
